Blue Mountain Station Horse Stud is a new stud with old bloodlines. At the moment, our stud is working towards involving old blood with new to create a horse that is perfect for working on the farm.

We will use this page to introduce our broodmares, that are due to foal in the 2023/2024 season. 

Blue Mountain Bonnie

15.2hh Chocolate Bay Stationbred Mare

'Bonnie' is a stunning and well put together mare, that has proven herself as an excellent station hack over many years . Bonnie's heritage goes back to the glory days of Nix Buick. She was born at Blue Mountain after her mother was returned here after the Buick's had sold on the station. She is in foal for the 2023/2024 season to Cadwallader (Gisborne x Clydesdale) owned by Sue and Steve Kerr. Bonnie and Cad have proven themselves a successful match over the last 3 years. This cross has produced our own homebred stallion, 'Edith's Gentleman'. We have found their foals to be very friendly and trainable. 

Blue Mountain Rockette

15hh - Stationbred Bright Bay Mare

Blue Mountain Rockette came to us a few years ago. Rockette's was originally bred at Blue Mountain. We were luckily enough to add her back into our broodmare band. She is a broad and sporty pony mare that was born to breed jumpers. She is calm and level headed, that has the conformation to climb the hill and work all day. Rockette is confirmed in foal to Edith's Gentleman.

Clever Chloe

16hh Thoroughbred Dark Brown Mare

Chloe arrived at Blue Mountain in foal in 2022. She produced a stunning sport horse type colt in September. She has proven herself a calm and beautiful mare with an excellent upright conformation. Her 2022 Colt 'BMTS Sandstone Prince', lovingly known as Phillip at home. He is by the Irish Sports Horse Stallion PS Diamond Weaver. For the 2023/2024 season, she is confirmed in foal to Cadwallader (Gisborne x Clydesdale) owned by Sue and Steve Kerr. We believe this stallion will add bone and a gentle character to Chloe's next foal

Red bay Thoroughbred Mare

Checkpoint is a Thoroughbred mare that was brought from Grey's Hill Stud in 2023, in foal to Golden Tamaiti. Golden Tamaiti is a 2010 Dun stallion Clydesdale cross brought from the Ruatoria Horse sales. This breeding was put together by Grey's Hill Horse Stud and we seriously look forward to the cross!

'Witch' is a perfect little off of the track pony. Blue Mountain Station acquired her in 2022. She has proven herself an excellent farm hack after her many years as a Standardbred broodmare. She is in foal for the 2023/2024 season to Edith's Gentleman. We are so excited to see the mid height hack she produces for us this year!

Beauty is the friendliest mare on the planet! She is always interested in what we are doing and loves humans. We plan to use her as a pack mare but she got in foal, first try to Edith's Gentlemen! She has earned her place in the broodmare paddock. We are really looking forward to seeing what this cross produces. We are expecting an outstanding natured foal.
